Tom Waits is turning 70 next month, and in celebration, today a new compilation called Come On Up To The House: Women Sing Waits was released, featuring covers of his songs by Phoebe Bridgers, Aimee Mann, Iris Dement, Corinne Bailey Rae, Courtney Marie Andrews, Joseph, Rosanne Cash, Kat Edmonson, and more. Most of these artists really make the songs and their own, making this album worth hearing whether you’re a fan of Tom Waits, the artists doing the covers, or both.

For Phoebe Bridgers, her (very awesome) “Georgia Lee” cover follows her very busy 2019 which has included an album and touring with Better Oblivion Community Center (her project with Conor Oberst), and, more recently, a collaborative single with The National’s Matt Berninger. She also was just announced for Shaky Knees 2020.
