SubRosa share new song "Killing Rapture"

The great Salt Lake City doom band SubRosa are still prepping to release their excellent new album For This We Fought the Battle of Ages on August 26 on Profound Lore. They’ve just shared a second massive song from that album, the 10-minute penultimate track “Killing Rapture,” and you can listen to that below.

“Killing Rapture” is one of the more direct, immediate songs in SubRosa’s catalogue. All of their music has a strong, sorrowful emotional core, but this one in particular evokes such an old, Americana-laced sadness for its first half. The melody, as with much of their best work, seems classic, bordering on traditional. And as usual, this is a riveting piece of composition, the quick opening giving way to a huge build and release into a beautiful, mournful coda.

SubRosa are touring behind the new album later this year, and while they won’t hit the east coast, they do have some festivals coming up like Psycho Las Vegas and 2017’s Maryland Deathfest.
