Sufjan Stevens releasing 'The Greatest Gift Mixtape' with Carrie & Lowell outtakes & remixes

Sufjan Stevens’ Carrie & Lowell Live LP came out today – you can buy or stream it, or watch the Vimeo stream below. The album is a recording of Sufjan’s November 9, 2015 show at The North Charleston Performing Arts Center in Charleston, South Carolina, and includes Sufjan’s cover of Drake’s “Hotline Bling” with show opener Gallant.

That’s not the only treat for Sufjan fans today, though. Asthmatic Kitty is releasing a translucent blue 12″ split with “Blue Bucket of Gold” (and its outro) on Side A, and “Hotline Bling” featuring Gallant on Side B. The 12″ ships September 22, 2017, and is available for preorder now.

For even more from Carrie & Lowell, one of our favorite albums of 2015, Asthmatic Kitty will also be releasing The Greatest Gift Mixtape – Outtakes, Remixes & Demos from Carrie & Lowell on October 20th. John from Asthmatic Kitty said on reddit, “a lot of these b-sides were supposed to be added onto Carrie & Lowell Live. But none of them were ready, and it felt weird to detract from the live set. So we backtracked them.” The Greatest Gift includes four new outtakes from Carrie & Lowell as well as remixes from Helado Negro, Doveman, and 900x, and an iPhone demo of “John My Beloved.” See the full tracklist below.

Sufjan is also part of the collaborative Planetarium album that’s coming out via 4AD in June. The project has some upcoming tour dates in July that are now on sale, too (including Prospect Park).
