Led by the great Marshall Allen (who just turned 96 last month), jazz greats the Sun Ra Arkestra have announced their first album in 20 years, which will be released later this year on Strut Records. While details are scant, they have just released the first single from the record, a new version of "Seductive Fantasy" (originally from Sun Ra's 1979 album Seductive Fantasy from On Jupiter).

This new version, which is a regular in the band's live set, was recorded at Rittenhouse Soundworks in Philadelphia and the very cool, very psychedelic video for it was directed and animated by Chad Vangaalen. Watch the video below.

Watching this video makes us sad that we haven't been able to see Sun Ra Arkestra this year -- they surely would've played the 2020 edition of Union Pool's Summer Thunder series as have in years past. Check out photos from their show at the 2018 Interference AV festival:
