Super Furry Animals released "Bing Bong" (watch the video)
Super Furry Animals‘ “Bing Bong” — the Welsh band’s first single in seven years — was just released, and unlike another Britpop return, this one is awesome. Joyously bouncy — the song title is very apt — It manages to sound like nothing else SFA have ever done before but also instantly recognizable as their own. It’s also entirely in Welsh, but with a chorus of “Bing Bong Bing Bong” there isn’t much of a language barrier. The song was originally written for the 2004 European Football finals in Portugal, but never released. Say the band:

Bing Bong is finally revealed to the world after its prolonged hibernation, released to bring colour and hope to Europe’s footballing, and semi- or non-footballing, nations. Bing Bong isn’t a song of victory or defeat, but a beacon of faith to return to when your best centre-forward gets sent off, or it rains at your festival. Keep it in a safe place for a time when you will need it.
The football theme continues in the video, which puts all the members in armchairs to try a little footwork with a soccer ball. It’s a lot of fun and you can watch (and read the English translated lyrics) below.
