Swans Soundtracks for the Blind

Swans reissuing 'Soundtracks for the Blind'; Michael Gira playing shows

The iteration of Swans that began with 2010’s My Father Will Guide Me up a Rope to the Sky is no more but Michael Gira is “currently writing new material for the next phase of Swans,” and he’s playing some solo shows later this year where he’ll play some of the new material. He has five shows — four on the West Coast and one seated show at Brooklyn’s Warsaw on 10/25 — and all shows will be opened by longtime Swans guitarist Norman Westberg. All dates are listed below.

Swans are also giving 1996’s Soundtracks for the Blind its first-ever vinyl release on July 20 via Gira’s Young God Records. More info here.

In other news, author Nick Soulsby (who has written books on Thurston Moore and Nirvana) is publishing the book Swans: Sacrifice and Transcendence, An Oral History on June 26 via Jawbone Press.

In 2016, Michael Gira was accused of rape and sexual harrasement by former collaborator Larkin Grimm, and he called the accusations “horrible and untrue.”
