Swedish indiepop royalty Red Sleeping Beauty, which featured Niklas Angergård who would go on to form Acid House Kings, existed in the early-mid ’90s with their second album Soundtrack coming out via famed label Siesta. The band got back together for a single in 2015 which then led to Red Sleeping Beauty’s first new LP in nearly 20 years, Kristina, which came out in June via Shelflife/Labrador. The album was titled for band member Kristina Borg, who struggled with breast cancer over the past few years but is now doing well. Similar to the direction Angergård’s brother Johan took with the new The Legends LP, Kristina is lush, crystalline synthpop with vocals heavy on vocoder/autotune. At its heart, however, it’s still the same brand of winning melodies Red Sleeping Beauty are known for. You can stream the LP below.

Current single from the LP, “Mi Amor,” adds delicate nylon string guitar to the mix, as well as a Super-8 video that fits the nostalgic vibe perfectly. That video premieres in this post and you can watch below.
