Klaus Johann Grobe

The precision Swiss groove machine that is duo Klaus Johann Grobe are back with their third album, Spagat der Liebe ("The Balancing Act of Love" says Google Translate) which is out May 6 via Trouble in Mind. (The label also put out 2014's Im Sinne der Zeit, one of my favorite albums of that year.) For this new LP, Sevi Landolt and Dani Bachmann seem a little more focused on the dancefloor, with disco hi-hats, kooky synths, and the occasional flute added to their formidable arsenal. All good things, mind you. The first single from the Spagat der Liebe is "Wo Sind," one of the funkiest songs on the album, with big, fat synths and one of KJG's patented killer basslines. Says Dani Bachmann:

The record really just happened, from the album title to the tracks to the lyrics to the flute. We only started to realize what we did after it was all finished. So "Wo Sind" is probably a perfect example of the whole record's spirit. Good times!

"Wo Sind" makes its premiere in this post and yo can stream it below.

Klaus Johann Grobe will be making their first-ever North American visit this spring to play Austin's Levitation fest, and will be touring around it. Bachmann says:

We're really looking forward to finally play in the States. It's a premier for all of us and it will be the first time we actually play our new songs...it will probably still be weird singing in German to an Anglophone audience. But yeah, we said it before, good times, anyway!

Their trek wraps up with two NYC shows both of which BrooklynVegan is presenting: May 11 at Cake Shop and May 12 at Shea Stadium with Grooms and Operator. Tickets for both shows are on sale now. Full Cake Shop lineup TBA.
