SZA performing at Grammys (like Cardi B), covered by Paramore
The 2018 Grammy Awards Ceremony happens on January 28, and performers for this year's ceremony, which returns to NYC for the first time since 2003, are starting to be announced. So far Lady Gaga, Childish Gambino and Pink will be performing, and more artists were added to that list today: SZA, Kesha, Cardi B (performing the "Finesse" remix with Bruno Mars), Logic (performing his single "1-800-273-8255" with Alessia Cara and Khalid), and "Despacito" hitmakers Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee. With 5 nominations, SZA is the most-nominated female artist at the Grammys this year. She's up for Best R&B Performance for "The Weekend," Best R&B Song for "Supermodel," Best Rap/Sung Performance for "Love Galore," her collaboration with Travis Scott, Best New Artist, and Best Urban Contemporary Album for Ctrl, which was also one of our favorite albums of 2017. Kendrick Lamar, who teamed up with TDE labelmate SZA for "Doves in the Wind" on Ctrl and more recently for "All The Stars" off the Black Panther album, has 9 Grammy nominations of his own this year.
Cardi B was nominated for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song, both for "Bodak Yellow."
In other SZA-related news, Paramore (who released another of our favorite albums of 2017, After Laughter) covered SZA's "20 Something" at recent shows in Barcelona and Paris. Paramore mixed lines from "20 Something" into their song "Grow Up" at the January 9 and 11 shows, as The Fader points out. Watch videos of that below.
