"I want it to be a place for us to gather around, hear great music, laugh together, reflect and gain respite from our weekly troubles. People are capable of such beauty. I aim to bring some of it to you on the radio every Saturday." -- Chris Thile, on first NPR show since Garrison Keillor sexual misconduct allegations.
Garrison Keillor, the creator of and former host of long-running NPR variety series A Prairie Home Companion as well as contributing to other NPR programs, has been fired from Minnesota Public Radio following accusations of "inappropriate behavior with an individual who worked with him." As a result, MPR is changing the name of the long-running series.
Fiona Apple paid tribute to the late, great New Orleans icon and rock n' roll/rhythm n' blues pioneer Fats Domino on Saturday's (10/28) episode of A Prairie Home Companion by covering "Ain't That a Shame."
"I also thought it’s fitting, because there’s a pretty awful person who just got elected in the United States. So I don’t know why, but that song popped into my head this morning." - Ryan Adams on covering "Karma Police."
