Her new album is a departure from the gritty punk of past bands she’s been in, instead featuring catchy, dreamy pop songs that capture the time in her life post-Swearin’, which she describes as a “scrapbook of that time.”

Allison Crutchfield (PS Eliot, Swearin’, Waxahatchee) recently announced that she’d release her solo Merge Records debut, Tourist In This Town, on January 27 via her new label home. A tour announcement hasn’t been announced yet, but she did reveal she’ll play a NYC show…

The lead single is “Dean’s Room,” which, like Waxahatchee’s Merge debut, has Allison’s trademark style get a boost from some more layering and glossier studio production than she usually has. It was produced by Philly’s Jeff Zeigler, who’s also worked with Kurt Vile, The War on Drugs, Nothing, and more.

Julien Baker is on tour now, having hit NYC for a sold-out show at Music Hall of Williamsburg on Saturday (9/24). Like a lot of Julien Baker shows, the room was totally packed for her set and even with her bare-bones setup (just her voice and a clean electric guitar), you could’ve heard a pin drop the entire set…

Before Katie & Allison Crutchfield got more fame in Waxhatchee (Katie’s project, but also featuring Allison) and Swearin’ (a band co-fronted by Allison), not to mention Allison’s newly-Merge-signed solo project, they played together in the indie pop-punk band P.S. Eliot, who broke up in 2011. In the time since their breakup, P.S. Eliot’s music gained a cult following…

The band’s cult following has only grown as members Katie and Allison Crutchfield got more fame from Waxahatchee and Swearin’ (among other projects), and it was clear that the crowd was ready to eat up the whole set.
