John Mulaney and The Sack Lunch Bunch dropped Christmas Eve on Netflix, and if you haven’t watched it yet, it’s both a parody of and heartfelt homage to kids TV specials of the ’70s and ’80s that succeeds wildly at both.

John Mulaney and The Sack Lunch Bunch, the new “children’s musical comedy special from a man with neither children nor musical ability,” hits Netflix on December 24 and, after a very All That Jazz-like teaser trailer, John’s now released a preview that gives us a better idea of what to expect…

John calls the Netflix special a “collage of Broadway caliber showstoppers, comedy sketches for all ages, meditations on the unknown from children and adults, and a papier mache volcano. It’s funny, musical, joyous, anxious, and surprisingly profound.” It’s out Christmas Eve.

The 2020 season of Lincoln Center’s annual American Songbook series runs from January 22 – February 29.
