Seventeen years after the original list, Rolling Stone has published a completely new version of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, including 254 songs that weren't present on the 2004 list.

Voters included Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Stevie Nicks, John Cale, Wayne Coyne, Jimmy Cliff, Robert Smith, Waxahatchee, El-P, and over 300 others.

Rolling Stone has done other genre-specific 'greatest albums' lists before, like for metal and punk, and now they've done it for grunge.

The list is being celebrated with a free NYC show tonight, headlined by Rickie Lee Jones, who will perform Pirates in full (#49 on the list).
