Black Star (aka Yasiin Bey fka Mos Def and Talib Kweli) will play a last-minute NYC show on Tuesday, following their performance on this weekend’s Dave Chappelle-hosted episode of SNL.

The episode will continue SNL’s tradition of having Chappelle host the first episode after a major US election.

Sunday’s NYC-area shows include Steve Lacy, Broken Social Scene, The Chills, The Wonder Years, Fred again.., Muse, Phil Lesh, and more.

As with the show in London at the beginning of the month, it was an all-star celebration of the late drummer’s life, with appearances by members of Queen, Rush, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Queens of the Stone Age, Nirvana, Soundgarden, as well as Miley Cyrus, Joan Jett, Dave Chappelle, Alanis Morissette, and more.

Special guests are set to include Travis Barker, Liam Gallagher, Joshua Homme, Chrissie Hynde, John Paul Jones, Geddy Lee, Krist Novoselic, Nile Rodgers, Mark Ronson, Supergrass, Lars Ulrich, Wolfgang Van Halen, and more.

The surprise NYC appearance came right after Chappelle had been in the news over controversy surrounding his cancelled First Avenue show.

”I can see a transgender hit squad coming from a mile away,” Chappelle said of the around 50 protestors who showed up at Varsity Theater, where his night one Minneapolis show was moved to after being cancelled by First Ave.

”The First Avenue team and you have worked hard to make our venues the safest spaces in the country, and we will continue with that mission,” the venue writes.

”This is my biggest gripe with this whole controversy with ‘The Closer’: That you cannot report on an artist’s work and remove artistic nuance from his words,” Chappelle says.
