Chicago’s Ethers have deep roots in the city’s garage/punk/indie scene, featuring members of Heavy Times, Outer Minds, Radar Eyes and The Runnies. With prominent use of organ, there’s echos of post-punk groups like The Clean and Swell Maps, as well as ’60s Nuggets-style psych, and the kind of indie rock you might’ve found on Merge in 1997.

Their tour starts with the 3-day Trouble in Paradise fest in Chicago that combines the forces of labels Trouble in Mind and Paradise of Bachelors. Also playing: The Weather Station, Omni, Nap Eyes, FACS, James Elkington, Olden Yolk and more.

Goner Records will hold the 15th edition of Gonerfest in Memphis, TN on September 27-30. The initial lineup has just been announced and as usual is heavy on punk, garage and Australians.
