Cult of Luna and Julie Christmas teamed up for the awesome collaborative album Mariner last year, and this month they’ll go on a collaborative North American tour. Dalek and Whores will open.

Conflicts include The Brian Jonestown Massacre vs Pelican, Psychic TV vs King Diamond, Mastodon vs Warning, and more.

Cult of Luna are also releasing a live album/film in April.

King Diamond was added to the fest that already included also includes Swans, Neurosis, Abbath, Carcass, Melvins, Chelsea Wolfe, Murder City Devils, Pelican, and plenty of other great stuff.

From veterans like Testament to newer-comers like Khemmis, here’s metal mag Decibel’s top 40 albums of 2016.

This is a particularly exciting collaboration, partially because of how unexpected it feels and partially because the skills of each artist complement each other so well. Both artists have several distinct modes of address, and on the new song Julie’s shifts from softer, lighter singing to her raw screams mirror and enhance the ambient-to-heavy dynamics of Cult of Luna.
