Friday of M for Montreal was the best day, musically, of the festival so far and not just because it was the official BrooklynVegan showcase at Casa Del Popolo (co-presented by Heavy Trip). The 11th edition of M for Montreal is currently underway, having kicked things off Wednesday night (11/16) at historic Mile End venue Rialto Theatre. Usually the first night is entirely dedicated to on-the-rise performers, but this show was headlined by Martha Wainwright whose new album, Goodnight City, was just released last week...

The 2016 edition of M for Montreal is coming up later this month (November 16 - 19) and the full lineup has been released and includes Spencer Krug’s Moonface, Baauer, Martha Wainwright, Elephant Stone, Nobunny, The Appleseed Cast, Leif Vollebekk, Tasseomancy and more.

M for Montreal's 10th edition happens November 18 - 21. As in years past the first two days are more industry-oriented with single shows each night and then Friday and Saturday turn into a full-blown festival all over Montreal...

Montreal's Osheaga Festival is returning this year from August 1 - 3 at Parc Jean-Drapeau. The lineup was just announced and includes Outkast, Jack White, Arctic Monkeys, The Replacements, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Modest Mouse, Local Natives, Haim, SBTRKT (who's streaming a new EP), Pusha T, Gogol Bordello, Cut Copy, Flume, Chance the Rapper, Gesaffelstein, Danny Brown, Four Tet, Volcano Choir, Against Me...

SISU, the solo project of Dum Dum Girls drummer Sandra Vu (the live band also features DDG guitarist Jules), are one of the many bands here for CMJ...
