Alamo Drafthouse's version of the ill-fated MoviePass, which is called Season Pass, has begun beta testing in the chain's downtown Brooklyn location, in addition to eight other cities.
In other MoviePass related news, its co-founding CEO is launching an app that will give you free movie tickets for watching ads... and make sure you're really watching via facial recognition technology.
"We believe our public disclosures have been complete, timely and truthful and we have not misled investors," MoviePass parent company Helios and Matheson said in a statement in response.
After spending considerable time operating at a loss, MoviePass parent company Helios and Matheson Analytics reportedly ran out of money on Thursday, causing service outages. They're now exploring ways to keep the company afloat, including raising prices and restricting access to new wide-released films.
