NYC's series of free ”It's Time for Hip Hop in NYC” shows began on Monday at Orchard Beach in The Bronx with Busy Bee, Furious 5 featuring Grandmaster Melle Mel and Scorpio, Kid Capri, Nice & Smooth, Kool Moe Dee, and more.

Sherwin Banfield's ”A Cypher In Queens” installment will open at the Queens Public Library this month, and there's an opening ceremony with music by Jam Master Jay's son and spoken word from Phife Dawg's mother.

Plus: Talib Kweli, Phony Ppl, Big Freedia, Musiq Soulchild, Force MDs, Grand Wizzard Theodore, The Originals and more free hip hop shows as part of SummerStage 2019.

SummerStage has announced its 2019 lineup of over 100 free shows which happen at NYC parks in all five boroughs, including Japanese Breakfast, Big Freedia, FELA! The Concert, Young M.A, The Wailers, Parquet Courts, The Mountain Goats, Corinne Bailey Rae, Alvvays, and more.

This year's final concert also features Pharoahe Monch with DJ Boogie Blind, Mister Cee, Skyzoo, LATASHA, and more.
