The documentary about much-loved, much-missed NYC record store Other Music features interviews with members of The National, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Animal Collective, Le Tigre, Luna, Interpol, and more.

The Other Music documentary is streaming this weekend (April 17-20) to help support independent record stores and movie theaters hurt by COVID-19 closures.

The Other Music documentary features in-store performances by Neutral Milk Hotel, Vampire Weekend, The National, Mogwai, The Rapture, and more.

Plus: Daniel Johnston & Jad Fair’s 1990 album It’s Spooky is getting reissued on vinyl.

’Meet Me in the Bathroom: The Art Show’ is inspired by Lizzy Goodman’s oral history of the early-’00s NYC rock scene and will be on display from September 4-22 at The Hole on Bowery.

Joined by Animal Collective, MGMT, Tunde Adebimpe (TV on the Radio), Connan Mockasin, Caroline Polacheck (Chairlift), Thee Oh Sees, Kurt Vile, and Sky Ferreira, John Cale played all of ‘The Velvet Underground & Nico’ and half of ‘White Light/White Heat.’

Sky Ferreira, Connan Mockasin, MGMT, Tunde Adebimpe and Caroline Polachek are also on the bill.

Roger Waters, Thurston Moore, TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe and more have signed an open letter protesting Nick Cave’s upcoming shows in Tel Aviv.

Demme’s work included ‘Talking Heads: Stop Making Sense,’ ‘Silence of the Lambs,’ concert films for Robyn Hitchcock, Neil Young and Justin Timberlake, music videos for New Order, The Feelies and so much more. A very sad loss.
