Tanya Tagaq up for Polaris Prize again, released "Frostbite" single, touring

Inuit throat singer Tanya Tagaq is once again nominated for Canada’s Polaris Music Prize for her album Retribution. (She won the Polaris in 2014 for her album Animism.) Winning twice, and beating Leonard Cohen’s You Want it Darker, may be a tall order, however. If you haven’t listened to the album, which mixes atmospheric, tribal rock with Tanya’s unmistakable vocal style, check it out via Spotify below.

Tanya also recently released new song “Frostbite” as part of Adult Swim’s 2017 Singles Series and you can stream that below. She’s on tour in Canada as we speak, and has dates lined up for the fall, as well as a few for spring 2018. Those include a show at NYC’s Le Poisson Rouge on May 11. Tickets for the LPR show are on sale now. Tanya’s last NYC show was part of Lincoln Center’s American Songbook Series.
