Terry Reid put out unreleased ’70s material on Light In The Attic, playing shows
Among the many great reissue projects from the Light In The Attic is British musician Terry Reid's recently-released The Other Side of the River. It includes previously-unreleased material from his little-known but beloved 1973 album River, featuring never-before-heard compositions and alternate takes of River songs. According to the label, even Terry Reid himself forgot about some of the material that ended up on the release.
If you're unfamiliar with Terry but you're a fan of '70s rock in general, you'll probably like him. He toured with several major bands, including The Rolling Stones, Cream, Fleetwood Mac, Jethro Tull and Jimi Hendrix, and he wrote songs for CSNY. He also famously turned down offers to sing in Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin (there's definitely a little Robert Plant in his voice). More recently, he's been covered by The Raconteurs and sampled by DJ Shadow.
Terry's been playing shows, and he has one coming up in Piermont, NY on November 19 at the Turning Point (tickets). That’s his only currently-scheduled US date, though he has a couple coming up in the UK.
There's also a documentary about Terry in the works, which is called Superlungs, which is Terry's nickname, a nod to his powerful voice. You can watch the trailer for that below, and donate to help fund the movie if you'd like.
He was also recently a guest on Marc Maron's WTF podcast, which you can listen to here.
