It’s Casual (photo by Kevin Scanlon)
It's Casual

LA Based duo It’s Casual have a new record on the way on Neurot (according to my forthcoming interview with Scott Kelly) and are playing quite a few shows in Austin including the Southern Lord showcase with Wolves In The Throne Room, Wino, and many others (schweet!). Check out “The Pantry” from The New Los Angeles (buy that here) and keep an eye out for them!

Eagle Twin features Gentry Densley, also of Iceburn & more recently, Ascend fame (with Greg Anderson of sunn 0)))). Eagle Twin recently signed with Southern Lord, and are releasing their new album later in 2009.

Trash Talk are probably the busiest hardcore band at SXSW, having lined up a ton of shows in the next few days. Their live show is super heavy, super violent, and oh-so fun! The quartet recently announced a new 7″ on the way, featuring Keith Morris of Circle Jerks!

HOWL

Howl is a band from Providence that, although I can’t say who, are on the verge of signing to a major metal label and are making waves with their absolutely crushing demo. The band describes their music as “BONG-RIPPIN’ LABYRINTH METAL!”, though I hear early crust and early Mastodon. Check out “Oma” from their demo available above!

Hardcore/crust/metal Atlantans Music Hates You are another crew to look out for, having recently signed to Zoroaster‘s Terminal Doom Records. The band was recently profiled in Creative Loafing (ATL’s Village Voice) and CT of Rwake is definitely a fan.

Priestess 12:00 a.m.
Trash Talk 1:00 a.m.

The EXTREME volume of Jucifer (ear plugs sold separately), the smash-bang good time of Valient Thorr, canadian thunder of Priestess, and can-you-ever-have-too-much Trash Talk? I would be sooo there if isn’t wasn’t for….
