The 46th annual Village Halloween Parade brought thousands of costumed marchers and onlookers to the streets of Manhattan on Thursday night (10/31). With a dismal forecast promising rain, many came prepared with umbrellas and ponchos, but they wound up being unnecessary; the hours after 7:30 PM were mostly dry, windy, and unseasonably warm.

To celebrate its 2019 theme of “Wild Thing!” the parade featured a section of prancing Maxes in wolf costumes, accompanied by towering creatures that would’ve been right at home in Maurice Sendak’s beloved book. There were also the usual assortment of skeleton and pumpkin puppets leading the parade, and a variety of costumes inspired by pop culture, politics, and horror. Whistleblowers, Jokers, floral dress-wearing Danis from Midsommar, Bernie Sanders, Edward Scissorhands, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, Minions, Bob Ross, zombies, Dr. Manhattan from Watchmen, and Beetlejuice characters were among the many costumes we spotted over the course of the night; check out pictures below.
