It looked a lot like The Antlers were teasing something on Monday and it turns out they were indeed. One of our guesses was a 10th anniversary celebration for their breakthrough album Hospice, and that ended up being the one. They're giving the album a reissue on double white vinyl with deluxe artwork and packaging (by the album's original artist, Zan Goodman) on March 8 via Frenchkiss/Transgressive, and performing the album in full at some intimate acoustic shows. (Longtime multi-instrumentalist Darby Cicci is no longer in the band, which is part of why they're playing acoustic.) They're also promising "old friends and guests." Frontman Peter Silberman writes:

We’re reissuing Hospice on March 8th, 2019, in honor of its tenth anniversary. It will be newly pressed on double white vinyl, with deluxe artwork and packaging courtesy of the album’s original artist, Zan Goodman.

We’ll be playing a limited number of small acoustic shows to celebrate, too. But it will be a bit different this time as the core band now consists of myself and drummer Michael Lerner — longtime multi-instrumentalist Darby Cicci is no longer with the band.

Though we’ve pared down for the time being, these shows will feature some old friends and guests, and together we’ll perform Hospice in its entirety.

I hope you’ll join us for these special evenings. I’m truly looking forward to revisiting these old songs in a new light and seeing your friendly faces again. Your patience and support means so much.

The shows, which will be The Antlers' first since 2015, include two BrooklynVegan and LPR-presented dates at Brooklyn's First Unitarian Congregational Society on March 30 and 31. Tickets for the whole tour go on sale Friday (1/18) at 10 AM local time (tickets for NYC night one here and night two here). All dates are listed, with the flyer for the Brooklyn shows, below.

The Antlers' most recent album is 2014's Familiars, and Peter Silberman released his debut solo album Impermanence in 2017. No word yet on plans for a new album.

This all also coincides with Frenchkiss Records' 20th Anniversary. Expect even more reissues & events from the NYC-based label that is or has been the home of Les Savy Fav, The Hold Steady, Eleanor Friedberger, Valley Maker, Diet Cig, The Big Sleep, Local Natives, Passion Pit, The Dodos, and many more.
