The Bouncing Souls tell us their favorite albums of 2016

The consistently-great melodic Jersey punks The Bouncing Souls returned this year with Simplicity (on Rise Records), and they’ll do a three-night BrooklynVegan-presented run at NYC’s Irving Plaza this week. Each show has different openers — Masked Intruder and The Scandals on Thursday (12/15), Off With Their Heads and Crazy & the Brains on Friday (12/16), and Anti-Flag and Up For Nothing on Saturday (12/17) — and tickets (including a three-night pass) are still available. We’re also giving away ten pairs of tickets to the Thursday show, which comes with the chance to meet the band and see the sound check. Details HERE.

Ahead of the shows, we asked The Bouncing Souls if they could tell us their favorite albums of the year, and this is the conversation they had…

Greg Attonito: “I honestly can barely think of three albums released in 2016. I don’t think I’m qualified for this one.”

Pete Steinkopf: “Man, I don’t think I know 10 albums either, but I’ll work on it.”

Bryan Kienlen: “I couldn’t name one, sorry.”

George Rebelo: “I’m in the same boat as everyone else. The records I bought this year were from the ’70’s.”

Bryan Kienlen: “Oh wait, I thought of one. Ours haha! Oh and Descendents.”

Greg Attonito: “I’m thinking we should just post this thread on BrooklynVegan and call it a day.”

Ultimately, they came up with a few others, like fellow punk vets Green Day, Against Me!, The Living End, John Doe and Bob Mould, newer punk band The Moms (which Paul from the Bouncing Souls produced), and more. Check out their full list below, along with a list of all tour dates and a stream of Simplicity.
