The Dream Syndicate played 2 nights @ Mercury Lounge (setlists, pics, video)

The Dream Syndicate celebrated the release of their new album These Times with two intimate shows at Mercury Lounge. Both shows were opened by Stephen McCarthy of fellow Paisley Underground vet The Long Ryders, and he joined The Dream Syndicate for their sets both nights as well. At both shows, which were also part of Mercury Lounge’s 25th anniversary celebration, they played most of the new album, as well as classics from their original era. Thursday’s show got “Tell Me When It’s Over,” “Then She Remembers,” “That’s What You Always Say” and “The Days of Wine and Roses” while Friday got “When You Smile,” “Halloween” and they covered The Bangles’ “Hero Takes a Fall.”

Thursday’s opener was Peter Holsapple from the dB’s (whose band included former dB Will Rigby), and The Dream Syndicate’s Steve Wynn came out during his set for dB’s classic “Neverland.” Friday’s show was opened by duo 75 Dollar Bill. Pictures from Thursday night are in the gallery above and setlists from both shows (and video from Friday) are below.
