The Fall prep 32nd LP, announce first U.S. show in over 10 years
Punk/postpunk legends The Fall have announced they’ll release their 32nd studio album, titled New Facts Emerge, on July 28 via Cherry Red. It’s their first in two years, which is rather a long time for the notoriously prolific band. A bit of unfortunate timing for the iconic Manchester band — the album includes a song called “Victoria Train Station Massacre,” which has unintended connotations with last week’s Manchester Arena suicide bomber tragedy. (The bomb went off on the foyer between the Arena and Victoria Station.) The album was completed, with artwork finished, long before the incident. According to news site The Fall Online, Cherry Red asked leader Mark E Smith if he wanted to change the title, but it will stay as-is. No music has been released from the album yet, but you can check out the tracklist below.
In other news, The Fall have also recently announced their first U.S. show in ages. (2006 was the last tour we remember.) They’re scheduled to play Louisville, KY’s Cropped Out Festival on September 23. The two day fest (9/22 & 9/23) also features Royal Trux, Australia’s Feedtime, Peter Protzmann, Sadat X, Circle X, Neil Hamburger, Pile, Tyvek, John Bender and more. Hopefully MES and his current lineup of The Fall will play other North American shows while over for Cropped Out. All dates are listed below.
