The Gaslamp Killer accused of rape

UPDATE: The Gaslamp Killer gave a statement, denying the accusations.

A woman named Chelsea came forth last night, accusing LA beatmaker and onetime Brainfeeder artist The Gaslamp Killer of drugging and raping her and her friend four years ago. She tweeted a statement that begins: “I’ve been suppressing my rape for 4 years and I’m finally ready to come forward to help myself heal and prevent it from happening to other women in the future. The Gaslamp Killer drugged my best friend and myself at a party at the Standard Hotel, had non-consensual sex with both of while we were completely incapacitated, and then dumped us back in front of The Standard after it happened. I was only 20 years old at the time.” You can read her full statement below.

She then added, “I would tag him, but today I noticed he has had me blocked, which pushed me over the edge and was the clearest admission of his guilt.” She also tweeted a screenshot that appears to be The Gaslamp Killer texting the woman’s friend: “Can we please talk right now? Your friend is accusing me of rape and I need you to back me up here.” You can see Chelsea’s tweets below.

New Zealand music festival Northern Bass, which The Gaslamp Killer is scheduled to perform at this year, posted the following:

We have been made aware of allegations made on Twitter today regarding The Gaslamp Killer, an artist currently scheduled to perform at Northern Bass this year.

We have contacted the artist’s agent to discuss the allegations.

It is extremely important that everyone feels safe in the Northern Bass environment and at all Fuzen events. As a company we support anyone that finds the courage to speak up about harassment and assault in any form.

The Gaslamp Killer was billed to play the Low End Theory party at Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival tonight (10/13). UPDATE: BEMF cancelled tonight’s show.

UPDATE 2: Low End Theory has also officially parted ways with The Gaslamp Killer.

Chelsea’s boyfriend Jack Wagner, the person behind popular meme account @versace_tamagotchi, posted his own statement backing Chelsea’s claims:

This is extremely difficult for me to talk about, but my girlfriend finally spoke out about something she has been suffering because of for years. @gaslampkiller drugged and raped her on July 5th 2013 when she was just 20 years old. The photo above is the story she posted on twitter tonight. I was the first person she finally had the courage to tell about it and that was this year. Since I have watched her struggle with the idea of coming forward. Some of the biggest fears women face is not being believed and also the fact that talking about it makes it impossible to suppress a horrible memory that you simply want to forget. I refuse to let this simply be brushed under the rug. I want everyone to know what he did and never, ever forget. Her and her friend have been suffering for years because of this moment, now it is his turn to suffer and I hope it never ever stops. I can’t tell you how difficult this has been, all i want to do is support her. I am turning off the comments on this post, I appreciate everyone’s support but at the same time it’s hard having people weigh in on somebody else’s’ worst day of their life. She has had some people come forward with similar experiences. I hope anyone who is holding in something similar to know that there is nothing to be ashamed of and that the people close to you are probably ready to support you more than you think. I also hope everyone else reading this knows how important it is to support anyone you know who has had something like this happen to them. @gaslampkiller you are a rapist, it is now my personal mission to witness your demise. you are going to burn in hell and i hope you get a sample of what that will feel like starting today.
