The Great Escape returns to Brighton in May, BrooklynVegan showcase included
The multi-venue Great Escape Festival takes place in the seaside resort town of Brighton, England from May 19 - 21. Like SXSW or Pop Montreal, the focus is really about discovering new bands, but some names already familiar to us include charismatic queer rapper Cakes Da Killa, Dilly Dally, the great Third Man Record-signed country artist Margo Price, Moshi Moshi-signed classical composer turned electronic producer Anna Meredith, Bleached, Chastity Belt, Diet Cig, Eagulls, Kero Kero Bonito, Kruangbin, Lady Leshurr, Mass Gothic, Matthew Logan Vasquez, Methyl Ethel, Michael Kiwanuka, Milk Teeth, Monika, Mothers, Mystery Jets, Nap Eyes, Night Beats, Pional, Soren Juul, Stormzy, Tiny Ruins & Hamish Kilgour (of the Clean), Teleman (ex Pete & the Pirates), The Parrots (from Spain, friends with Hinds), and Wesley Gonzalez (Let's Wrestle guy, now solo), and onetime Long Blondes singer Kate Jackson.
BrooklynVegan is presenting a late show at The Haunt on May 20 with NYC's own Porches and Frankie Cosmos, along with great Australia singer-songwriter Julia Jacklin who we discovered not long before SXSW where she played one of our shows there too.
The full schedule is HERE, and tickets are on sale (as are delegate passes).
