WNYU's 'The Halftime Show' celebrates 15 years tonight in NYC at Le Poisson Rouge (and Santos)

Dj Eclipse

For 15 years, NYU 89.1 has hosted The Halftime Show, a hip hop show dedicated to young and upcoming artists that housed names like Aesop Rock, Fat Joe, Eminem, Kanye West & Big L in their earliest days. DJ Eclipse (of Fat Beats/Non-Phixion) & DJ Riz take listeners on a journey weekly, and now they seek to continue that journey in the flesh at an anniversary show at Le Poisson Rouge tonight (8/29). Along with the hosts of the show, look for appearances from DJ Premier, Stretch Armstrong, D-Stroy (The Arsonists) & Lord Sear, as well as some ruprise guests. Tickets are still available.

In related news a few of the DJs will head from LPR directly to Santos for tonight’s The Originals party, which sees sets by Tony Touch, DJ Clark Kent, D-Nice and Rich Medina in addition to DJ Eclipse and Stretch Armstrong. Tickets are also still available for that event.

You can check out an excellent video recapping The Halftime Show and another video of DJ Eclipse on an episode of “Crate Diggers,” where he discusses his vinyl collection. Watch both below.
