The Horrors @ MHOW (more by Zach Stern)
The Horrors

"Now though, all eyes are once again on The Horrors, and this time it's not just the usual hyperbole prone culprits salivating in anticipation. Even typically level-headed critics are getting into a frothy mess over the sounds emanating from the black clad quintet's sophomore LP, Primary Colours.

Those still unconverted to the band's renewed cause are rightfully questioning this unexpected second wave of hype, yet something has become clear above the din of adjectives being tossed back and forth between journalists. The Horrors have done the one thing no other hyped to the heavens British guitar band has been able to do in the past ten years; they've given birth to a sophomore album that drastically improves upon its predecessor, and they've done it with considerable intelligence and style to spare."

The Horrors visit North America for a month-long tour that kicks off in mid-September. That includes three NYC-area shows. At the tour's start, the Horrors play a Thursday, September 17th show at Bowery Ballroom. They return to NYC for two end-of-tour shows on Friday, October 16th at the Music Hall of Williamsburg and Saturday, October 17th at Maxwell's. Tickets for both the Bowery and MHOW shows go on AmEx presale today at noon. General sale starts Friday, June 12th, which is when tickets for the Maxwell's show go on sale.

The band released its second record, Primary Colours, this past May on XL Recordings. The album was produced by Portishead's Geoff Barrow. Its first single, "Sea Within A Sea," is posted above. The video for that song and "Who Can Say", and all tour dates, are below...
