The Lemon Twigs sign to 4AD, share "These Words" (listen), touring with Car Seat Headrest

lemon-twigs

The Lemon Twigs, fronted by young and extremely talented brothers Michael and Brian D’Addario (17 and 19, respectively), have signed with 4AD who will release their new, Jonathan Rado-produced album later this year. You may have already heard “As Long As We’re Together,” which was written by Michael D’Addario (the more angsty and glammy of the two), and today we get “These Words” which is written and sung by Brian whose style leans more towards early-’70s pop like The Raspberries and 10CC (or even Paul Williams). It was the song, the first time I saw them (about a year ago), that made me go “whoa, who are these guys!?”   You can stream both songs below.

You may have seen The Lemon Twigs at South Street Seaport on the Fourth of July at the Festival of Independence, where Michael ended their set with a daring, final-guitar-chord leap off the stage and onto the pavement. They’re on a short tour as we speak, and play Chicago on Friday (7/9). They’ve also just announced some September dates with Car Seat Headrest. All are listed below. Go see ’em.
