The Longshot played more covers & Green Day songs at NYC night 2 (pics, videos, setlist)
Billie Joe Armstrong's band The Longshot are on a tour of much more intimate venues than Billie Joe usually plays with Green Day, and they played their second of two NYC shows last night (5/23) at the recently-opened Coney Island Baby. The setlist was similar to night one, with most songs from The Longshot's debut album Love Is For Losers and many of the same covers, including the Ramones' "Rockaway Beach," The Replacements' "Bastards of Young," The Rolling Stones' "As Tears Go By," and the oft-covered "I Fought the Law." They also added in David Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust" this time, and did three Green Day songs (compared to just one from the first night). All of them were from the Uno! Dos! Tre! albums: "Stay the Night" which was also played on night one, "Fell For You" which Billie Joe said was only the second time they played that one, and "Wild One" which was a fan request, and which Billie Joe needed an audience member to hold the lyric sheet for.
The packed show sold out way in advance, and some fans had even lined up earlier than 3 PM to get a spot close to the stage. Among the crowd members was legendary rock photographer Bob Gruen (not the first time he was spotted seeing Billie Joe in NYC). Check out the setlist and videos below (plus some longer night one videos). Pictures are in the gallery above.
The Longshot's third and final NYC show of this tour is June 1 at Baby's All Right. Also sold out.
