The Mattson 2 prep 'Paradise,' touring w/ Nick Waterhouse (stream a new song)
Twin brother duo The Mattson 2 have been making mostly instrumental music for the last 15 years and, lately, have toured with Khruangbin, made an album with Toro Y Moi’s Chaz Bundick, and released a full-album cover of John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme. They’re gearing up to release Paradise, their second album for Chaz Bundick’s Company Records, which adds vocals to the mix, but we’ve got the premiere of the album’s instrumental opener, “Naima’s Dream,” which brings warm, mellow vibes and nods toward Chuck Mangione without using any horns. Paradise is out June 7 and The Mattson 2 will be on tour before that, kicking things off this weekend at Winooski, VT’s Waking Windows fest and will then hook up with Nick Waterhouse. Their tour with Nick hits Brooklyn at Music Hall of Williamsburg on May 14 (tickets). All dates are listed below.
