The Monkees

The Monkees are touring this summer, kicking things off at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY on July 15 and will play two other NY-area shows: Red Bank, NJ's Count Basie Theatre on July 17 and Westbury, NY's NYCB Theatre on July 19. Tickets to the Cap show go on sale Friday (5/3) at noon; tickets to NYCB Theatre go on sale Friday (5/3) at 10 AM with a Live Nation presale starting Wednesday (5/1) at 10 AM. Tickets to the Count Basie Theatre show also go on sale Friday at noon.

While Davy Jones died of a heart attack in February 2012, the surviving Monkees (Mickey Dolenz, Peter Tork, Michael Nesmith) will all be involved. (Nesmith has sat out of previous tours since 1970 up until last year.) Dolenz sang lead on some of the band's most famous songs ("Last Train to Clarksville", "Take a Giant Step" and "I'm a Believer"). For this tour, which they're calling "A Midsummer's Night With the Monkees," the setlist will go in chronological order, using videos and photographs from throughout their career. It's an interesting approach, and one that will put their biggest hits at the start of the show.
