The National

The National share "Light Years," reveal guests & more for "Special Evening" shows

UPDATE: Pictures, videos, and recap from “Sepcial Evening with The National” in NYC HERE.

The National have shared a second song from their anticipated new album I Am Easy To Find (due 5/17 via 4AD), “Light Years.” It’s another very promising taste of the album, and its video features scenes from the album’s accompanying short film, which was directed by Mike Mills and stars Alicia Vikander. Watch/listen below.

The new album features guest vocals from Sharon Van Etten, Lisa Hannigan, Mina Tindle, Kate Stables (This Is The Kit), longtime Bowie collaborator Gail Ann Dorsey, and the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, and today the band revealed that most of those guests (except Sharon and Lisa) and others (Yuki Numata Resnick, James McAlister) will appear at their upcoming, intimate “Special Evening with The National” shows in Paris, London, NYC, Toronto, and LA, varying by date. The evening will also include a screening of the film, and a Q&A with the band. The NYC show happens April 22 at Beacon Theatre and is sold out.

As mentioned, the band also has a lengthy tour of larger venues, including a run with Courtney Barnett that includes BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival shows at Prospect Park on June 12 (sold out) and June 13 (tickets). All dates are listed below.
