The National

The National throwing NYC fest with Cat Power, Jason Isbell, Future Islands, U.S. Girls, more

The National may not all live in NYC anymore, and they may be celebrating their roots in Cincinnati with their inaugural Homecoming festival this year, but as they sing in their Dark Was the Night contribution “So Far Around the Bend,” they know “there’s no leaving New York.” That’s also the name of the two-day event they’re throwing at Queens’ Forest Hills Stadium on September 29 and 30.

The National are headlining the mini fest, and the incredible lineup also includes Future Islands, Jason Isbell, Cat Power, Cigarettes After Sex, Phoebe Bridgers, U.S. Girls, Bully and Adia Victoria. Tickets go on sale Friday (4/13) at 10 AM, and you can get discounted rates at the ACE Hotel in Manhattan using code FRONTROW. $1 of each ticket sold will be donated to the Brownsville Community Culinary Center.

As for the decision to return to Forest Hills Stadium, where they played in October, Aaron Dessner said:

Our show last October at Forest Hills Stadium was one of our favorite shows in the history of the band. The incredible legacy of the place and the fact that it still feels intimate even given its size, we started talking immediately about finding a way to come back for multiple nights with friends. We couldn’t be happier to announce these shows in September with some of our favorite artists.

All National dates are listed, with the video for “Walk It Back” from last year’s great Sleep Well Beast, below.
