The National’s Bryce Dessner is releasing a classical album, Tenebre, featuring four of his compositions for string ensemble, Aheym, Tenebre, Skrik Trio and Lachrimae. It's due out on October 11 via PIAS, and it was recorded with German string orchestra Ensemble Resonanz. "When I first heard Ensemble Resonanz perform my music, the energy and precision of the group was somewhat shocking." Bryce says. "It’s like there’s a fierceness to the sound, while retaining its depth."

"Tenebre" also features vocals from Moses Sumney, and you can listen to it below.

In related news, Bryce plays on the just-announced posthumous Leonard Cohen album, and his National bandmate Matt Berninger debuted a duet with Phoebe Bridgers in Netflix’s new Between Two Ferns: The Movie today.
