The Obsessives

The Obsessives releasing 'My Pale Red Dot,' playing shows (NYC with ROMP)

Scrappy Philly punk duo The Obsessives are releasing a new 7″ called My Pale Red Dot on May 6 via Derrick from TWIABP’s label Broken World Media and Near Mint. It was mastered by Cam from Sorority Noise, and they recently toured with Modern Baseball side project Broken Beak, so you know they’re in good company. We’re premiering “Avocado” from the 7″, which is definitely up a similar alley to Sorority Noise and (newer) Modern Baseball: crunchy, poppy rock with a youthful singer who has something to say. Listen below.

The band have a few shows coming up, including one in Brooklyn with ROMP whose recently-released debut LP is up a similar alley to The Obsessives. The show is on April 14 at Rough Trade, and it’s headlined by Nothing, Nowhere who sorta mix Post Malone-style rap with emo-pop (yes it is as odd as it sounds). Tickets for that show are on sale now.
