Long-running Austin avant-pop band The Octopus Project will release their first proper album since 2013's Fever Forms this year. The album's called Memory Mirror and it comes out on April 7 via the band's own Robot High School label (pre-order). The Octopus Project worked on the album with Flaming Lips collaborator Dave Fridmann, as well as Danny Reisch (who's also worked with Shearwater on a few albums). We're premiering the lead single "Wrong Gong," which is a nice dose of quirky electronic pop that you can listen to right here:

The band only have West Coast dates announced at the moment, but they'll be adding East Coast shows (including NYC) closer to the album release. Stay tuned for that. Meanwhile, check out their current schedule below.

UPDATE (2/14): More dates announced, including NYC on April 11 at Mercury Lounge. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (2/17) at noon with an AmEx presale starting Wednesday (2/15) at noon. Updated dates are listed below.
