Post punk greats The Pop Group are gearing up to release their new album since reforming earlier this decade. The new LP is titled Honeymoon On Mars and is due out October 28 via Freaks R Us. For this one, they enlisted the help of producers Dennis Bovell (The Slits, Orange Juice, I-Roy, Hollie Cook) and the Bomb Squad's Hank Shocklee (Public Enemy, Third Bass, Tricky), and both seem like natural matches for The Pop Group's vibe. Frontman Mark Stewart agrees:

We've at last fulfilled a double fantasy to work with our two favourite sonic assassins, Dennis 'Blackbeard' Bovell and Hank Shocklee. We're in awe as Dennis, the Captain Kirk of dub is taking us on a hyper sound voyage into the future, and Hank, as always tears up the rules totally upholding our faith in the absolute value of noise. We've gone completely off the map.

You can check out the electro-tinged first single "Zipperface" below.

Having toured North America in 2015 (and played a BV SXSW party), The Pop Group haven't announced new shows on this side of the Atlantic but they will be touring the UK/EU in the fall, including one of the Rough Trade 40 shows where they'll be collaborating with Protomartyr. Those dates are listed, along with Honeymoon On Mars' tracklist and artwork, below.
