The Residents wrote a novel, celebrating with free NYC Q&A/signing
Having made records, films, and musicals over the last 40+ years, enigmatic oddballs The Residents have just released a novel. It's titled The Brickeaters and here's the synopsis:
The Brickeaters is an absurdist buddy movie story featuring a very tall internet content screener teaming up with an aging career criminal whose primary companions are an oxygen bottle and a .44 Magnum. After a short crime spree cementing their unhinged partnership, they work together to prevent a middle-aged lottery winner from polluting the LA water supply with massive amounts of fluoride. Their adventures unfold via a highly unreliable alcoholic narrator desperately avoiding the reality of spousal abandonment.
The Brickeaters is out now and The Residents will celebrate its release with a free in-store event at NYC's Rough Trade on August 27 that
includes a live performance, Q&A and signing. (UPDATE: It's just a Q&A/signing.) Doors are at 6 PM and details are here.
In other news, the I Am A Resident album, featuring Residents covers made by fans, will be out August 24 via Cherry Red.
