The Rival Mob ready ‘Mob Justice'; win a prizepack for Record Release show
by Fred Pessaro // BBG
Vocalist Brendan Radigan opened The Rival Mob's set at This is Hardcore with an arguably flawless statement of purpose:
"This first song we're gonna play is not for some political bullshit. It's not for some tough guy pose. It's not to make us sound like a bunch of fuckin' romantic poets trying to be sensitive. It's made for one fuckin' thing, moshing really fuckin' hard.
And so began the stagedives with "Intro Grunt," the band's answer to classic, mostly-instrumental hardcore anthems like Integrity's "Vocal Test." Check out video of the mayhem below.
The Rival Mob's ferocity is not a simulacrum of NYHC cliches, unlike much of the hardcore bands that litter the landscape. There is a fury, and that simmering anger has never been more apparent than on their latest LP Mob Justice due on Feb 26 via Revelation Records ("Intro Grunt" opens the LP). "It Must Be Nice..." from that record is streaming below. Fans of 80s hardcore like Warzone, Breakdown and Negative Approach, take note.
The Rival Mob have a pair of NYC shows set for the near future, including the previously discussed record release show at 285 Kent on Saturday (2/23) (tickets) and an appearance at New York's Alright at the same venue on April 20. Want to go to Saturday's show? We have a pair of tickets AND a copy of Mob Justice on vinyl available for giveaway. Details on how to win, along with that song stream and video, are below.
For a chance at winning a pair of tickets to see RIVAL MOB at 285 Kent and vinyl of their new album: either tweet something that includes both @brooklynvegan AND "Rival Mob" in the tweet, or send an email to BVCONTESTS@HOTMAIL.COM with the subject line "Rival Mob". Include your first and last name in the email. We'll pick a winner at random and contact them with more details. If you enter by email, it will not be shared with anyone else. Good luck!
