The Sidekicks touring w/ Queen of Jeans, then Oso Oso; all 3 have new songs
The Sidekicks are gearing up for a tour with The Menzingers and Queen of Jeans, which surrounds The Menzingers’ appearance at Long Island’s Great South Bay Music Fest on 7/18 with Taking Back Sunday, Glassjaw, and Frank Iero (tickets). Meanwhile, The Sidekicks and Queen of Jeans are playing their own Long Island show on July 27 at Amityville Music Hall with Victory Garden and Innerlove (first show, ft. members of Table Talk).
Incidentally, both The Sidekicks and Queen of Jeans released new songs today. The Sidekicks put out “Ode To Jerry,” a non-album single that came to fruition during the making of 2018’s Happiness Hours. “During the recording of ‘Happiness Hours’, Jerry came to me in a dream,” bassist Ryan Starinsky said. “There, he gifted me this song to commemorate some rockers who have come before, altogether making me rethink the uncertain realm of death.” It’s a similar kind of breezy indie rock to the songs on Happiness Hours, as you can hear for yourself below.
Meanwhile, Queen of Jeans have shared “Get Lost,” the first single off their upcoming Will Yip-produced album If you’re not afraid, I’m not afraid, due August 23 via Topshelf (pre-order). It’s a very appealing dose of folky, singer/songwriter-tinged indie rock that fans of Angel Olsen or Big Thief or the boygenius crew will probably want to hear. In addition to the tour with The Menzingers and The Sidekicks, Queen of Jeans have some record release shows in the Northeast in early September, including Brooklyn’s Gold Sounds on September 7 (tickets). All of their dates are listed below.
Back to The Sidekicks: they’re also touring with Oso Oso, who — in case you missed it — just released the new song “impossible game” yesterday. It’s off their new album Basking In The Glow (due August 16 via Triple Crown) and if you haven’t heard it, you can stream it below. Oso Oso and The Sidekicks’ tour is also with Future Teens and it hits NYC’s Bowery Ballroom on August 23 (tickets). All dates for that tour are listed below.
Future Teens also signed to Triple Crown and are releasing their first album for the label (a joint release with Take This To Heart Records) later this year. Details are still TBA, but they recently put out the very promising single “Emotional Bachelor.”
