The Smashing Pumpkins announce tour with Interpol, Stone Temple Pilots
The Smashing Pumpkin have announced 'The World Is A Vampire Tour,' with support on one leg from Interpol and on the other from Stone Temple Pilots (are they just trolling Pavement?). Most dates also have additional support from Rival Sons. Tickets go on sale Friday (3/31) at 10 AM local time with an artist presale starting today (3/28) at noon local. Billy Corgan says:
I grew up in a world where I needed to know bands like Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Cure existed, it meant there was a place for people like me to hang out and belong. That's what The World Is A Vampire is about. Bringing back that sense of community. If you don't fit in, you belong here. It's about having a shared experience and respecting others, but ultimately having fun. A true alternative festival, where all the self-proclaimed weirdos and outsiders of the world can get together and have a party.
The NYC-area gets shows on August 24 at PNC Bank Arts Center and August 30 at Jones Beach, and those are both with Interpol and Rival Sons. All dates are listed below.
