outsider artist The Space Lady reissuing 'Greatest Hits,' touring

Covering popular hits with her accordion on the streets of San Francisco in the late ’70s, Susan Dietrich Schneider became known as The Space Lady thanks in part to the silver helmet and wings she wore. It was when her accordion broke and she purchased a then-new Casio MT-40 keyboard, that her covers really took on an ethereal otherworldly quality. When a live recording of her cover of The Electric Prunes’ “I Had Too Much to Dream (Last Night)” was included on the second volume of Irwin Chusid’s outsider musician Songs in the Key of Z compilations, her status as a cult artist became cemented. The Space Lady’s Greatest Hits compiles live-to-cassette recordings, including covers of songs by David Bowie, Steve Miller Band, The Sweet, and more. Released by UK label Night School in 2013, it’s getting reissued in North America by Mississippi Records on November 16. You can stream it below.

The Space Lady is touring in September, including dates in Miami, Philadelphia, Toronto, and a NYC show at Trans Pecos on September 11 (tickets). All dates are listed below.
