The Field @ Studio B, Brooklyn, NY – 6/6/08 (J Russell)
The Field @ STudio B

Hopefully your week in dance is off to a good start. I haven’t gone to a thing since M83 on Tuesday, but tonight (Saturday, June 7th) that is definitely changing. There are two great options you should not miss out on:

Fixed brings classic French house back to Studio B! Alan Braxe is in town again. He was here in October with fellow French touch legend, DJ Falcon, which Solid Goldberger does a great review of here. DJ Falcon won’t be here this time around, but yet another Parisian deejay,Lifelike, will. With some successful tracks in the early 2000’s, followed by the release of “Discopolis” (a track he and Kris Menace created) on Alan Braxe’s own label, Vulture, in 2005, Lifelike is now producing a lot of remix work for artists such as Cazals (you can download Lifelike’s remix of ‘Somebody Somewhere’ from his myspace player) and The Presets’ “Are You the One” (check out the spacey car video below):

Fixed residents JDH and Dave P will be holding things down when the Frenchmen are not. Check out their top ten tracks for May.

FIXED

Tickets available in store at Other Music (15 E. 4th St.) and online here. $12 at the door.

If you’re not in the mood for all the Frenchness, Colt 45 is throwing another one of their Tales of Colt 45 parties at Glasslands. Last month’s featured a superb set from the Black Ghosts. This time Brooklyn’s own heavy bass champion, Drop the Lime (aka Curses) will be making everyone get sweaty with his signature bass heavy jams. DTL hasn’t been around in a while because he’s been busy touring and destroying dancefloors (and fruitstands?) in places like Tel Aviv:

Tonight’s party is free, just be sure to RSVP.

Tough decisions…Braxe is legendary. Drop the Lime‘s sets are consistently banging. Choose wisely!

Also, I’m sure there’s dancing to be done at that Misshapes party at Santos.

Sunday it’s supposed to be 95 degrees out! Finally! Dance outside! Here are 2 opportunities to do so:

Water Taxi Beach – Long Island City (CRED)
Water Taxi Beach

Rhythmism is throwing a party at Water Taxi Beach in Long Island City with a slew of deejays leaning on the minimal/tech side including:

Adultnapper (Ransom Note)
Derek Plaslaiko (the Bunker / Spectral)
Matthew Dear (Ghostly)
Stadenco (Rhythmism.com)
Taimur & Fahad (Blk|Market Membership)
Three (Hallucination Limited)

Advance tickets available here.

Sunday’s also got some soulful house happening with Trusme (check out the interview Resident Advisor did with him below) deejaying the latest in the Sunday Best series at the Yard:

Resident Advisor interview with Trusme:

The soul continues on with Jamie Lidell bringing his experimental electro/soul/funk sound to the Bowery Ballroom for 2 nights (Sunday and Monday). Hopefully you already got a ticket because both nights are sold out. If you didn’t he’ll be back for Summerstage in August. “Another Day” is set to be the next single off of Jamie’s new album, Jim. Check out the dance-filled new video for “Another Day” (which is set to be the next single off of Jamie’s new album, Jim) below:

What else do you recommend? How were the Field?
