The Weeknd continues to have a busy 2017. For one, he'll be playing this year's edition of the Harper's Bazaar Icons Party at NYC's Plaza Hotel on September 8, as well as appearing on the cover of the September issue of Harper's Bazaar magazine. The magazine celebrates "icons" in the worlds of music, fashion, and entertainment, and features many names such as Courtney Love, Grimes, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Travis Scott, and others.
In an excerpt from the magazine interview, The Weeknd discussed his persona in the public eye: "[It's] kind of like pulling a Ziggy Stardust. Maybe I'll retire from being The Weeknd. Or maybe I'll just give him a break."
The Weeknd has also been tapped to play this year's MTV Video Music Awards, alongside Lorde, Katy Perry, and others. View the full lineup of performers here.
In related news, formerly feuding collaborator Drake brought out The Weeknd at Toronto's OVO Fest Monday (8/7) to perform "Crew Love" and "Controlla." Drake also brought out Cardi B (who's playing Warm Up at MomA PS1 with A$AP Ferg this weekend) to perform her single "Bodak Yellow," which since cracked the Billboard Top 20. This happened just after Migos brought out Cardi B at a different Toronto festival. View video from the star-studded event below.
The Weeknd headlined Montreal's Osheaga fest Sunday (8/6) night, bringing the entire event to a triumphant close. View pictures from The Weeknd's energetic set above.
Also, if you're on the lookout for new footwear, The Weeknd has announced a shoe collaboration with Puma. You can peek the high-top sneakers below.
