The Who’s ‘Tommy’ is returning to Broadway in 2021
The Who's Tommy is returning to Broadway in 2021, Playbill reports. The rock opera, which turned 50 in May, was first adapted for the stage in 1971, before becoming a film in 1975 and officially making its Broadway debut at St. James Theater in April of 1993. Des McAnuff directed that, and he'll be back to direct the new edition. Hal Luftig and Patrick Catullo, who are also working on the Broadway production of David Byrne's American Utopia, will join him as producers. Further information about dates and casting is still to be announced; stay tuned.
Meanwhile, The Who are releasing their first album in 13 years, WHO, in November, and their orchestral "Moving On" Tour continues through the end of October in North America before the band heads to the UK and Ireland in 2020. Listen to their newest single "All This Music Must Fade" below.
